Re: What Bull Sank Faster Then The Titanic?

Canuk,
Well looks like I struck a nerve there. I wasn't thinking of him but if the cap fits........! Do you sell him or have you invested heavily in his semen?

Fair play to Albert. Amazing that he has managed to beat all the Semex studs combined on one of Genervations first real attempts into breeding bulls.

Tell me, as a matter of interest, Is there still a good trade of cattle into Mexico these days?

at the time we went to Haldrey and looked at the cowfamily before deciding to use him, which made the results even more disappointing. also went to sunnylodge to see linjets 2 full sisters and other family members.Wish now we'd used linjet heavier instead. (at the same time I'd reared a sterling x EX inspiration x tempo x linmack bull against hubbys wishes and of course he got out into the herd.We lent him to a neighbour for 2 years. Most of them are now VG cows and we'd beefed him without collecting semen)

Sorry to dissapoint you Bob, have no Champion calves, did have a bull calf though, have not used used any since, and have no link to any company whatsoever. My problam with your quote was considering you ARE indeed a semen rep, you should be more carefull before you slag someone elses bull.
Have heard a few guys slag a bull called Dragon said they were poor, ugly, and they just hated them, I happen to like the bull, and it bothers me none, that they slag him, it is done by exsperiance, not by commission, there is a BIG differance.
As for your quote on our Mexican trade, I do think you speak before you THINK, there are some hardships going on for some over here, and your barb about it shows your ignorance.

Canuk,
I do think before I write - very carefully.
You may not like what I write and you may disagree with me but I thought this website was all about points of view. I am saying be careful of breeder proven bulls. Not don't use them - be careful!
I have cited examples of ones that have dropped and I have a pretty good idea of which ones will drop from all my contacts in the industry. I have not mentioned the bull you keep referring to - why should I? It may well be genuine. But all the ones that have dropped were also ferociously defended right up to the end. You are basing your reply on an assumption you have made.

I just think certain aspects of the business stink. I am an honest man and you can try and make me look stupid by telling me to be careful what I say - but you ought to read what I have actually said and not try to put words in my mouth.
You assume a little too much including your remark on Mexico. I have no idea who you are or if you trade with Mexico so have no idea why you are so touchy about it.
It was a pointed comment - not at you! - as a farmer over here told me with great sureness this week, that a disproportionate number of one progeny test bulls daughters had been shipped out of sight to Mexico.
Now, I am certainly not stupid enough to name this farmer or name the bull concerned.

By the way - one other comment you made - "don't slag off a bull". Maybe you can enlighten me to which bull I slagged off - or was that another assumption.

I think you are both jumping to conclusions. Bob was referring to test daughters disappearing to mexico. Canuk thought you were talking about the BSE situation and lack of cross border trade.

If you re-read the messages in this light, you might not get so uptight.

Mr Hardy - I do not know how to pull down quotes or I would pull it down where you said well known from Canada, and attempt to disscieve in the same, sentence. When I said I assumed it was Champion, your reply was if the cap fits. (what is one to assume, its the only one I can think of) Curious anyone else have a guess? As a Canadian I simply was defending my fellow breeders, who at the moment can not sell anything, anywhere, I understand your joke now, but you can understand the way it was put to me at first, did not seem to be very funny. Have no problem with different points of view, and I'm sure some of your bulls are fine, but in my opinion, some bulls of yours would do just fine, on those headed to mexico to avoid, going in a proof.
One more thing for you to ponder, the fact you use your real name, is in fact honorable, and I do respect that, but it is amaizeing how much damage can be done, on this wonderfull thing we call the web, this is why I choose to avoid useing my real name. I also beleive that sometimes interprations going either way can get screwed up pretty quickly, it does happen a lot with me anyway.

Guess what, I have found the first mention of me being accused of slagging off Champion on 29th March.
Canuk is trying to get me to say something about the bull even back then. But no, he couldn't.
You can read into this dialog what you will, but I have not named names! You can only accuse me of what i have actually written not what you assume I meant.
