Re: Indianhead work placement!!!!!!!

I agree that the original post was a year old , however it appears Indianhead want someone right now therefore the new rules should apply!!!

The thread is a year old so the new rules don't apply. It is not advertising Indianhead, but it might give an opportunity to someone younger to work there.

Mark Day was the one who restarted it, not Indianhead. If you lot wish to tell Mark what he can or can't do with this site that gives us all so much enjoyment, then you are very shortsighted.

Hey I'm not complaining, or at least I'm not trying to, really I could care less. My feeling is though if Bob S wants a work placemeant, and he knows the forum exists, why get someone else to post it for you? I'm sure there are lots of very keen young farmers that use this site, but do not contribute, wouldn't it be nice if guys like Bob would do a little, it might help to open it up a bit.

Re: Indianhead work placement!!!!!!!

Come on boys!! Mark is trying to help some lucky youngster, who can afford the time of to travel to Indianhead and not just work with any old herd,( most can stay at home to do that) but work with and learn from a world famous top class herd. I wish I could do it, but circumstance denies me the oppertunity.

It's not so much advertising, more makeing members of this forum aware of a great opertunity to work with great holstiens.

ToB and canuk, if you are in the possition to offer a yongster the same experience as Indianhead, then let us know, who you are, where you are and i'm sure there will be plenty of sumer help for you too. emoticon

Im curious...why this isn't in Commercial Advertisements or better yet why BOB SCHAUF
can't become a Cowtalk member and go thru the same rules of posting 50 Times, then he can place a ad in the MEMBER CLASSIFIED?

like everyone else.

The average age of dairy farmers in the UK is something like 58. Not many young people are interested in this industry any more.It seems to me that anything that encourages or inspires a young person to enter into dairy farming has to be a good thing.
Are Indianhead trying to sell something? I don't think so.They are just offering a once in a life time experience for some one that might just make the difference when they choose their final Career.

I don't know who you are ToB but you never know maybe the lucky applicant will become hooked on holsteins and one day visit your farm and buy somethig from you !!

As I've said to you before this forum is not compulsory!!!

Mark,
I don't begrudge anyone for taking the oppertunity to further there future skills in the dairy industry, In Mark Lee's case GOOD for him and I am glad he feels he gained alot.

Personally, since I have teenage sons and daughters I would feel a little uneasy sending them somewhere to break in a new Water sking boat and the promise of Binge Drinking at all night parties at Madison assuming there under the age of 21 in the U.S.

There are plenty of internships offered by business (mostly you hear of the studs)that compensate the intern.

Does Indianhead offer Round Trip air flight, salery, bonuses? What about living accomidations and food?

Or is this the responsibility of the interns family?

The only reason I questioned the placement of this was first Bob Shauf could answer questions on this forum(Instead of you, Mark being responsible)Unless your looking to start a Employment agency
 emoticon .
And secondly It seems unfair to those members that have placed job opertunities in the Member classifieds.

I noticed Will Maxwell, Farmer Joe and Bullpen all placed one but no one responded.

All 3 have continually contributed to Cowtalk and personally it tells me they have more to offer breeders than Indianhead (by siting silently)

I appreciate what you have created here Mark for all of us. But a open forum only works If you allow anyone and everyone to share there opinions(Even If we all can't agree all the time)

I admit I'm a bit like Canuk I dont know what the bounderies are and hope I'm not crossing them by saying what I think?

Big Bird,
Look at It at constructive Critism in a nice way... If no one expressed there opinions. Then Mark Day and Moderators: Will Richardson, Big Bird, simon powell, buckeyebreeder wouldn't have much to talk about?

You are doing a great job of keeping this thread at the top of page one of the forum!
If you hadn't moaned on about it so much it would of almost disapeared by now, mean while the ads placed by those you mentioned are still easy to find in the classifieds section.
 :mad

I really can't be bothered arguing about this any more.
