Re: Udder bulls on Top 100 list
Right I need some help from everyone here!!
Should reps be aloud to start topics with the sole intention of promoting their bulls?
Do you appreciate having information or do you feel annoyed by this?
We really need to establish a policy so that Will,Simon and myself know how to react to these situations.
My personel opinion is to let these things go,but I will admit to being more annoyed when people who don't normally contribute to debates suddenly turn up with something to sell.I have noticed that if you put something up for scrutiny it will almost certainly be shot down ,that is the nature of this forum!!
So please give me your opinions!!!
Back to topic, Zade converts to 3 on UK udders and has a TOP index of 396, the following is a list of bulls available in the UK with higher udders scores(or equal) and higher TOP scores:
LAUDAN
AQUILA PATRON LUCENTE
DIXIE-LEE AARON
STOUDER MORTY
LADINO PARK TALENT-IMP-ET
WEETON JACKSON
ROYLANE JORDAN
BOSSIDE RUBEN
WILCOXVIEW JASPER-ET
MACHT
DELLKA JUROR GORDON
COMESTAR STORMATIC
SILKY GIBSON
ALTAGEN-I MERCHANT
BE-WARE JUROR GENO
WHITTIER-FARMS KENRIK

Re: Udder bulls on Top 100 list
Am of the same opinion as yourself Mark, I could have a hay day with this Zade bull (not the bull himself, just the sales pitch about him), but at the same time I have met Ron a couple of times and feel he is one sharp fello. Would have a lot to offer to any debate. Should be more willing to add to other topics, not just on here for a salespitch. How about let them go, there seems to be quite a few guys on here that can straiten this silly sales pitch stuff out, besides it keeps people looking, everyone likes a good debate. By all means shut em down when, or if, it gets nasty. Not too many have the nerve to stay long, when they are getting hammered all the time, for their salespitch

Re: Udder bulls on Top 100 list
I thought this forum was closed untill I heard about it yesterday. I contributed a year or so ago at your invitation Mr. Day.
Every Reg. breeder is a salesman for his goals and breeding program.
If not.. you should have grade cows running with a bull ,and enjoy the other good things in life.
Obviously I have other views beyond my cattle. Agricultural producers need to unite as much as possible, otherwise we will surely be eliminated by global, big money processor interests.
The Reg. breeder does not fit into the lowest price milk scenario.

Re: Udder bulls on Top 100 list
I think some of the reps need to think about what they are doing by starting a topic.
1) It doesn't take people long to catch on.
2)They are setting their own bulls up to be shot down.
3) How many people react well to having something blatantly pushed at them?
By all means contribute, defend your bulls if they are getting stick, but don't try to use this forum for advertising.

Re: Udder bulls on Top 100 list
I don't have a problem with a semen rep, or anyone with an AI stud affiliation sharing their opinion on a bull when we're talking about it. There might be some sales pitch.....but along with it often comes some valuable information that may not have known. The way I see it, if someone offers their opinion - you can choose to acknowledge it or discard it. And maybe that info will help you develop a better idea about how or where you would use the bull. With that being said, starting a thread for the complete purpose of advertising your own bull????? Come on, we don't need that on here.

Re: Udder bulls on Top 100 list
Speaking as a rep myself, I do not like to see new threads started with the deliberate aim of promoting a bull.
I have tried to ensure I only mention a bull if it contributes to the theme of the thread or if someone specifically asks advice on suitable bulls.
I make it clear that I am who I am and who I work for so nobody can be mistaken.I don't think everyone is quite so up front!
However, I feel the bulls we discuss on this forum seems very limited - mainly from Canada and indeed very little from USA or Europe. Maybe that is down to the tastes of the contributors.
Sometimes, I admit, I try to redress the balance and sometimes get shot down by the Maple Leaf brigade. Anyway that may just be a complex I have rather than actual reality.
So now I think I will go and fuel my complex with a few beers down at the pub before closing time.

Re: Udder bulls on Top 100 list
It's a brave man who will stick his head above the parapet and try and influence the buying habits of this forum!!
I think regular contributors have just about worked out where everyone else is coming from, and I personally don't have a problem, so long as the person involved has more positives to offer the discussion.I think both Alan and Bob do, and look forward to more posts from Ron.
That said, Cook annoys me.
Appears, does some poorly diguised sales pitch, contributes nothing else. Disappears.
Reappears sometime later with a different pitch for a different company. Disappears again!!
Must look him up at the National!!!
Drinks are on you Bruce!!!
