ACME STAR LILLY SONS

Has anybody used any Altagen Limitless or Altagen Lotto. And if u have what do u think of the heifers. They should be getting a proof in November and the daughters are scoring well.Another bull that looks real good is Cedarwal Spirte he is a Lee from a mason from an aerostar he will have a proof this time.Dudoc baculum red.The first Rubens son to be tested in Canada has 35 daughters classified at 70%gp or better. His dam is a Rudolph with over 4000 for milk index.

Re: ACME STAR LILLY SONS

We tested a Storm son out of Lilly son called Crestomere Lightning. So far results don't look too promising.
Show cows are sometimes one-offs and don't always transmit. Charity was the same. We have far more chance if the Show cow happens to come from a recognised cow family.
There are Show cows that do have sons. I suppose Dellia is one. She wasn't a big time show cow but did well in State shows etc. Her daughters and grand daughters are also doing well. Actually, I can't think of top drawer show cows of recent times (Whitney, Sterling, Beauty, Blackrose) that have bred really good sons. Maybe they are still in the pipeline and perhaps our sons from Paradise and Ashlynn will reverse this pattern. As a company, when picking young sires, we like to see depth and width of pedigree to give us confidence. Currently we are looking closely at Krull B Elegance and her daughters, Markwell Ravens, Ocean View Zandra, Canyon Breeze A's,and Jed Earle as well more established bull breeding families like Dellia, Roxy, Laurie Sheik and Ivory Mark.

Blackrose has produced some great sons in her time like Red Marker,Black Magic,Goldust,Romancer, plus many others including young sires like Kite,Banner,Reflection,Encounter,Renown,Big Sky.Also she is the grand mother of Ladino Park Talent rc who is going to climb to +18 for type this time i was told. She also carries red and has contributed to the red breed through her sons an daughters. This cow is the best i have ever seen in my life she is most definetly one of the best cows to grace the earth.Tony Beauty has a Rudolph son at semex and his full brother Wedgwood Royal at Foundation sires has
25 daughters classified in Canada at 76% gp or better so he might turn out ok.

Re: ACME STAR LILLY SONS

Fair point Big bird. I try to make reasonable unbiased comment but sometimes I admit to rambling on a bit. Its hard not to mention bulls when that is what the topic is about. However, i will try to do better. I don't hide the fact of who i work for and most people on the chat line take that into account. But if I know of a bull of ours that will do the job someone has asked for. it seems reasonable to mention it. After all Semex, Cogent and Avoncroft all have their supporters or agents ghost writing don't they?

I agree that blatant advertising should be banned / discouraged but when would we know when someone has some genuine information to impart? In my defence, the last post was about Acme Lilly sons which led me to talking about young sire selection from Show cows. I never mentioned any bull names other than one that didn't make it. I also responded to the question - "which bulls make the best calves?". I listed four which are doing just that. DLC asked for bulls to improve fat. I gave him those. Sometimes people appreciate information like that.

Gibson - looks like you have me there. Blackrose does have a fair few sons. I always greatly admired Blackrose and was there to see her win in Toronto but always thought she needed a real dairy bull on her. Most of the bulls you mention don't have much milk do they? Still its hard to get everything in one package and thats how I define a great bull.
