I dont think they milk to well one daughter was over 4000kg worse than her dam in the first lactation. They may milk a lot more when they get older.

Do you guys have a Taurus rep in your area? It's worth looking into. We've had good luck with their sire line up

I have a 87 with 90 ms at 3yrs 4m buckeye out of a 83 Durham next dam is 88. She calves every 11 months and made 23000 first lactation and is projected to make 28000 this lactation. She is do to shottle in February. She will calve at 3yrs 11m. Would you flush her if so what to.

With a 83 point dam I'm not flushing her. You have very limited marketability, and if you're building a herd there are better ways of spending your money than flushing to build numbers, it won't be cost effective.

I belive geneticaly speaking a GP83-VG85 are no diferent and should be equal. The 83 point cow was bred to Buckeye who scored 87 points and 90 points through the udder. This tells me that the 83 point cow has the ability to make them better than herself.I dont see the GP cow as a bad thing in the pedigree and if u flush her then u may get a lower scored one but u also have the chance of high scored one as well.

Yes we have a Taurus rep. We haven't bought anything off them for a couple years now. The GP 83 dam was only classified on her first lac. She calved again but never was rescored due to an injury. She had potential but I don't think she would have gone to high. Hard to say she was one of the slow maturing ones.

If she was from a VG88 and produced a VG87 then i belive she should of made VG being a daughter of Durham. The best bulls i would use that u can get on her would be Fustead Goldwyn Guthrie,Erbacres Damion,Lirr Drew Dempsey,Lincoln-Hill Shot Laser,Regancrest-S Braxton,or Foxberry Lou Macdaddy.

Don't know about the geneticaly equal, but 2 points between 83 and 85 could easily be a classifiers matter of opinion. Trouble is the 2 points between 83 and 81 could also be a classifiers matter of opinion, so once you start going down that route you might as well ignore all classifications.

And again, if you start to make a case for daughters of a really good bull to be given an advantage you might as well ignore the pedigree.

The Durham might have been a great cow cut short by an accident, and breeding on from her daughter might bring big benefits in the future, but given the information Bryant Rathbone has provided I'd still seriously question what percentage of the time spending money flushing her might be cost effective.

There seems nothing wrong with the cow she is VG87 and has produced very well. Why is it a good idea not to flush this cow because of cost if that is the only reason. To me logic states that a cow should not be flushed because it is not good enough not because its going to cost me money to flush it.I dont see any viable reason that the Durham in the pedigree would not of made a VG cow later in life. The bull Buckeye has around 20,000 daughters in Canada only 1800 or so are VG or EX.Allen has around the same daughters but he has over 5000 VG or EX.Going on these figures from Canada the Buckeye would belong to the top 10% or so of the Buckeyes in Canada for type with above average milk.
