DOORMAN
I was amazed that there was nothing recently written about him...
Do you think He will be the next Generation semex hot bull( marketing bull)? Seems he is used a lot in quebec .
How would you work with him, protect on.
Can i compare him to Mccutchen also a Bookem son? When I look to indexes Mccutchens will have a higher GTPI but doorman a little higer GPTA type...

Re:
I like Doorman because of his dam. His dam is an incredible cow to witness in person. Depending what you mate him on; he could produce very strong cows. His dam has a lot of width to her. His grandam and ggd were both 88 at 6 yrs and 86 at 6 yrs. The trouble with his pedigree is he has the following sires all within 3 generations: Bookem, Planet, Ramos, Shottle, and Goldwyn. The show crowd is mating him to Goldwyns as they think it's the next greatest cross but if you're trying to avoid massive inbreeding and already have a lot of those sires in your herd; he is going to be a bull that you will find hard to use widely in your herd. He does have a full brother named Dominic and Domestic at Semex who's genomic numbers are slightly lower but you could probably get him cheaper.

Re:
Doorman seems to be putting everything in calf for me, which is good considering his semen price. I really hope they turn out well, more than just type.

Most type breeders have hardly touched Bookem, Planet en Ramos I guess. These days it's goldwyn, atwood, goldwyn if you do type (and a little sid :-).

Good luck with the bull:heifer ratio.
From 3 batches of semen we were consistently running at 75:25 bulls:heifers. I like his calves, but think McCutchen has more ability to throw the 'special' one.

Re:
Mccutchen has been used more and longer and doesn't have near the number of "special ones".
