Re:
I ended up beefing Sigurd. All it took was a few natural service calves that were the size of elephants to know that I did not want to collect this bull.
Seriously, some of the biggest calves I've ever seen. If I had to put him on the Viking calving ease scale, I'd say somewhere in the 60's or 70's. Never had any Lystel Leduc calves but when I think of 17% calving ease Holstein bulls I think of calves like what this bull produced. Only 13 more to calve in!

That's a shame ... and very unusual for any Reds.
Wyevalley Advent has been a fantastic semen producer (in the same way that his dam is incredibly fertile and produces lots of embryos). We hoping to get some over to the States, but haven't finalised anything yet.
Our polled bulls Wyevalley Tango P and Tango 2 P look really interesting. At +$642 Net merit and A2/A2 Tango2P is one of the highest ranking polled Reds out there, beaten only by Eggtroen at $686.
Advent now was an official NAAB proof, here it is on the STgen website (thanks to Dancast ):

Re:
I imagine the calving ease came from Raastad, he is an 82 on the Norwegian index.
Those polled bulls sound interesting.

Re: Can/US Ayrshire Genomics
Our Reds had a nice April proof run.
Wyevalley Advent is back to $601 Net Merit and with PTAT 0.5 he would be the top type bull in the top 20 available net merit bulls on the CDCB list. This is his proof:
http://www.stgen.com/sire-directory/dairy-bull-usa.aspx?code=REGBR000022001317&language=english&title=advent
The polled Tangvoll sons are up to $648 and $638 net Merit. Importantly they have far better cell counts and type than Tangvoll. They would be the highest production polled Red bulls and #2 and #3 behind Eggtroen on net merit.
Exciting times - Advent is already being marketed in the UK and Australia, and the Tango P (NM $638) is being collected next week.
