Re: Ridge-Star Journalist

U have lots of great cows i did not know your prefix.I have had a look at your Journalists and 5 of them have interesting breeding all linebred to Tradition.Kelly Pamela Clover Anne and Hayley are the animals.I also like Gibson Erma linebred to Rotate through Mellwood and Jed and Gibson Pamela linebred to Tradition.I thought these two were very interesting Fabulous Playmate and Echo Sally double Inspiration. This one is my type of breeding the Echo Red cow 3 lines of Starbuck 2 lines of Inspiration and 4 lines of Threat.U have a great breeding style and have done very well with Cleitus blood like Dombinator.

I get lucky every so often.

As to the double Inspirations, Echo Sally was pure chance through running an Echo stock bull, Fabulous Playmate was a pregnancy when I bought her dam.

Talent on Rubens Echo is best desribed as high risk on scc. It's going to leave me one, probably two, good young cows though. The better 2 are both in calf to Shottle, the other Charpentier Spectrum (oops, Talent grandson on Talent daughter), so any heifers will have another shot of Inspiration.

Inspiration wasn't a success here. Storm wasn't a success here. Talent has left some cracking daughters but has had his share of failures. I am using some Goldwyn sons, but very carefully because of the Storm influence.

Tradition on the other hand seems to click well here, with the exception of Gibson.

Its more than luck to use one bull and have so many great cows from different familys. The cross of Spectrum on a Talent sounds ok he does not have the bad points of Talent on average. The Spectrum heifer would work with Larson for red.Inspiration could make some bad animals and i dont think Pete wanted to use Valiant on Lulu.He was a contract mating unlike Starbuck who was bred by Pete i belive.Valiant was better placed on Elevation or Tradition blood for best results.I used to milk some daughters of a bull called Oak Knoll Country Boy.I liked some of these he was double Lulu through her sons Inspiration and Matt Lancer.
